Time Is Inherently Cruel
Reflections of moments that are no longer there: canvases in constant flux. Time Is Inherently Cruel registers a stream of data from the organic world and gives it a life of its own in the digital one — an attempt to contain time by containing its image.
The resulting artificial spaces serve as conduits for an inner dialogue — a meditation on migration, and the emotions that haunt the displaced.

Dataset
The dataset was crafted through a durational performance: one photograph every hour during daylight, every day, for 183 consecutive days — spanning 2 continents and 4 cities. After training for multiple days, 12 generative models were evaluated and selected. From these, 72,000 seeds were generated, from which a final selection was used to produce latent space walk interpolation videos. Fourteen interpolations were created; five made the final cut.
Soundtrack
Influenced by the World Soundscape Project, the soundtrack is composed primarily of original field recordings from the natural soundscape of the rural area where I grew up in Venezuela — dominated by birds, insects, wind, and rain. An analogy to the GAN interpolation process: a virtual digital reality acting as an interpretation of captured moments.
